The Salem Dance tonight, Friday, March 2, has a theme of “Signs of Spring” including, Greening with Life, a dance that contains ideas and words of Hildegard of Bingen.
Hildegard Bingen, writes Matthew Fox, was one of the “great creation-centered mystics of the West.” This multitalented and prolific abbess of a Benedictine abbey was an influential preacher, healer, scientist, composer, theologian, artist, and poet. She coined the term viriditas, or greening power, connecting it closely with creativity.
In addition to learning the song to this dance during our break, we’ll also briefly hear from this amazing woman’s writings on spirituality, the environment and the earth.
